The
Amazon Rainforest – An adventure in Creative Arts and Curriculum Integration |
In this interactive workshop for teachers of ages 8-12, participants explore curriculum integration through drama strategies placed within a Storyline framework. Participants build the rainforest environment with found materials, create passports for character representation and research the habitat. Storyline episodes using story enactment, role play and choral response are based on children books, "The Great Kapok Tree" by Lynne Cherry and "Here is the Tropical Rainforest" by Madeline Dunphy. The culminating event addresses the importance of the rainforest by combining art and science into an informative puppet show.
