Session a)
Close-Up & Storyline
Working with delicate historical, geographical and social topics

Many historical, geographical and social topics are that complicated, that teachers are frightened, feel inhibited to pay attention to such a topic in their education. In this illustrated talk I will show how storyline can help to educate those topics. Using the Dutch slavery history as an example, I will introduce the close-up idea as the core, the crystallization point of such topics. And starting from such a close-up, the teacher can, together with the children, develop the plot for a Storyline that makes them understand the vital importance of the topic.
