Storyline in Portugal
For
the last two years Lidia Maximo, a lecturer in the Department of Child
Education at the University of Minho in Braga, Portugal, has made a
special study of Storyline as an innovative structure for integrating
curriculum. Some of her work has been published. Because of her interest
and the support of her Head of Department, Professor João Formosinho,
Steve Bell was invited to give a presentation at a specially arranged
conference in the university on Friday 15th November. The 80 delegates
represented a wide variety of experiences as students, teachers, lecturers
and professors and they gave a warm reception to the speaker. It was
obvious that there is a great deal of interest in educational reform
and that was clearly demonstrated by the enthusiasm of the participants.

Associação Criança
Professor
João Formosinho and his wife Professor Júlia Formosinho
have also established a research association called Associação
Criança (Childhood Association) which has been doing research
over the last ten years on creative development in the early years of
childhood. It was very rewarding to be able to visit their centre and
to observe the high quality of the work they have produced.
