New Book from Finland (in Swedish)

Anna-Lena Östern, professor of mothertongue didactics in the Faculty of Education of the Åbo Akademi in Vasa, Finland,has written this new book on the teaching of mothertongue (Swedish) .It is published by Utbildningsstyrelsen, the Board of Education. In one of the chapters she describes using storyline in the teaching of mothertongue, and includes a story about the Vikings and the topic outline that is made for it.

Svenska med sting är en inspirationsbok och en handledning för lärare och blivande lärare, i synnerhet för dem som arbetar som modersmåls- eller språklärare. Boken tar upp en mängd aspekter på svenska som modersmål, svenska språket, litteratur och drama. Perspektivet är sociokulturellt, dvs. språk och social kontext ses i en ständig dialog med varandra. Författaren vill också lyfta fram modersmålsämnet som ett bildningsämne som kan bidra till elevens självreflektion över identitet och kulturellt sammanhang i livet.

Boken är indelad i tre större block: Attityder och motivation, Textpedagogik och Textens (tomma) rum. Yvonne Hoffman bidrar med äventyrsberättelsen Stenen i askan och Anna-Lena Östern har planerat en storyline till den. I boken medverkar också några gästskribenter. Med boken följer en CD-skiva.

Anna-Lena Östern är lärarutbildare och sedan 1994 professor i modersmålets didaktik vid Åbo Akademis pedagogiska fakultet i Vasa.
